One Day At A Time

Standard

one day at a time

One day at a time.   That’s how we are living.  It’s a new way for me.  The brakes have been slammed on life as we know it.  We are all trying to understand what this means for today, for tomorrow, and for the future.  But in the end, all we can do is focus on today.  Each day’s check list of treatment being accomplished.  Today, the list includes:

Shower,  Chemotherapy,  Walking around the floor.

Shower is done.  And Chemotherapy has begun….so one more task for the day.  The rest of the day will include resting and eating to keep his strength up.

Spending hours a day  having toxic chemicals pumped in to one’s body does not exactly make one feel like celebrating.  He is hanging strong, but definitely feeling the toll from these harsh medications.

Thankfully, he had his MRI completed yesterday of the brain and the neck area. It was not a smooth event, but we were able to still get the check mark on that task for the day.   Preliminary information reports that the neck is clear…praise God.  There is one small lesion on his brain that may be metastatic or may not.  The oncologist should talk to us about it later, but she previously indicated that this could be handled by the chemotherapy as well.   So we are trusting that this course of treatment is going to be full recovery.  It will not be easy, there is a long road ahead and we will rely on your love and support and the strength of God to get us through each one day.

Again, we continue to be assured that testicular cancer is treatable, so each day we stand strong, holding on to the expectation that he will be cured.

Thanks, Craig Stevens, for this verse today:

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.

This song has been on my heart since we got here…..thought I’d share, Brianna’s cover of Amy Grant’s Better Than a Hallelujah.
