Round 3 in progress

Just a quick mid-week round 3 update.

We checked back in to CMH on Monday morning.  Saturday and Sunday prior to returning for chemotherapy Kevin was having some increased difficulty breathing.  We had a lot going on and weren’t really sure if it was anxiety from the upcoming return to CMH, or from the information we learned the previous week about potential future treatment options, or stress of parenting while being sick, or a change in medication….or?????

I suggested that we should go to the ER several times, but Kevin was not really interested in that.  We are both learning our roles in this adventure.  I want to be assertive, but still give him the power to make decisions about his care.  So I headed to his decision to wait until Monday.  I am thankful that you all were still praying because…..God protected him!  (He has conceded that in the future…if I say we should go….we go!)

Turns out….he was throwing a very large blood clot through his heart and in to his lungs (pulmonary embolus).  This is extremely scary…but thankfully he is doing just fine.   Even better since that brain MRI last week showed all clear, he is cleared to have blood thinners to help prevent future clots so that is now added to the regimen.

Chemotherapy itself has been smooth sailing.  The biggest ‘side effect’ so far has been extreme fatigue.  I mean extreme.  Like he is sleeping pretty much all day and all night.  The chemo started on Monday close to 3pm and by 7pm he was so tired he turned off the TV and lights and went to sleep….until morning.  Then proceeded to sleep off and on for most of the day.

I’m thankful that this is the worst effect that he is feeling.  Sleep is not painful or hard to watch.  He seems pretty peaceful even.  I’m enjoying a little rest while I’m here with him.   Finding some time to catch up on the mounds of paperwork that have been accumulating.

Thank you for your continued support, prayers, positive thoughts,  etc.  We are most grateful and know that we couldn’t get through this journey without each of you!

Sorry Junior!

Kevin shaving Junior’s head…..

oops sorry, I don’t know what happened the #3 guard?

I am thinking that God had some big plans for Kevin when he gets through this 🙂 Thank you for the update Lisa. I am happy to hear that fatigue is the worst of the chemo! And I am happy that you are able to take the time when he is sleeping to take care of yourself!
All my love and prayers to you all.

Good Morning, Lisa, Kevin and family. We are traveling to Florida stopping and visiting family along the way. We have our daily meditations with us, so each morning before we begin our travels, we praise God and thank HIM for everything. This am as we read “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young, we thought especially of all of you. Here is a little bit of today’s reading: “As you give yourself more and more to a life of constant communion with Me, you will find that you simply have no time for worry. Thus, you are freed to let my Spirit direct your steps, enabling you to walk along the path of Peace (Luke 12:25-26, Luke 1:79)
We pray that His peace will comfort you and you will know how much you are loved.
Thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers.
    Love, Jerry, Sydney and family

    • Thanks for that verse….we are feeling His peace and the love of God and so many others each day….Our hearts are constantly overwhelmed.

      Safe travels to you!
