For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Ok, so I have to say God’s timing is perfect. Though we felt frustrated that things turned around and the surgery we were hoping was next isn’t happening….the timing was impeccably perfect. On Monday, we got word that the City was accepting the worker’s compensation claim. On Tuesday, Dr. Nichols from Seattle saw Kevin’s newest blood work (HCG = 41) and confirmed that surgery was off the table and salvage chemotherapy should be started. Soon.
I went to work to figure out how hard it was going to be to have worker’s compensation pay for the doctors at USC so he could have ALL of his care at this center of excellence. Our claims adjuster was fantastic and within an hour she confirmed that indeed everything was good to go, and got the information of the doctor we wanted and the fax number and promised to fax the authorization either same day or next day. I spoke to the scheduler at USC and she confirmed that she could squeeze us in on Monday of next week as soon as she had the form in hand.. She also indicated that since we already had everything sent for our consultation with the surgeon that we would actually be good to go immediately upon receipt of the authorization! So….timing was perfect.
Overall, Kevin’s spirits have been really good. He has been enjoying the family and getting out doing stuff more lately. This week he went to the Dodger game with family and friends for Firefighter appreciation day. Brianna and I didn’t make it but sounded like they had a great time!
This weekend Brianna has a volleyball tournament in Anaheim, so we are all going to go for the weekend to watch some volleyball and enjoy a little family time before the next step of Kevin’s treatment begins. We will know more about what that means after our appointment at USC on Monday.
